A former commercial building in Birmingham city centre is set to be transformed into a 10-storey apartment block in a £10m scheme.
Investment company The Blackmore Group has teamed up with developer Holloway City Homes to buy 76 Holloway Head, which has been vacant for more than two years.
Plans have been submitted to Birmingham City Council and work is due to start later this year if permission is granted. The scheme is expected to be completed towards the end of 2019.
Under the proposals, the existing building will be demolished and replaced with a 10–storey block comprising 40 one and two-bedroomed apartments, including penthouses, with commercial space on the ground floor. The flats will be aimed at professionals and families living in the city.
Craig Mason, a director at The Blackmore Group, said: “This will be our largest city centre scheme to date, and our first in Birmingham.
“It is a fantastic development opportunity which will further enhance an emerging area of Birmingham that is already benefiting from a large amount of investment.
“Our vision is to create high-quality apartments which cater for a range of demographics in an attractive location, close to New Street Station, Grand Central and The Bullring.
“We hope to have planning approval in time to start work in the early part of this year.”
